AWS Educate is Amazon’s global initiative to provide students comprehensive resources for building skills in the cloud. It is a no-cost curriculum providing access to content, training, pathways, AWS services, and the AWS Educate Job Board with employment opportunities. Join AWS Educate and receive AWS Promotional Credits with an AWS Educate Starter Account.
Every student who is part of this program can choose either a Cloud Career Pathway or an AWS Educate Badge to up-skill themselves for which AWS offers tailored course content along with evaluation modules. Going through these courses does not earn you any Certification, although it will act as a foundation towards certification if you opt for that later on.
Cloud Career Pathways
Students can enroll in Cloud Career Pathways to learn essential skills in cloud computing. Each Pathway, aligned to in-demand job roles such as Machine Learning Scientist and Application Developer, includes 25+ hours of self-paced content.
AWS Educate Badges
Unlock an AWS Educate badge in one of the industry’s fastest growing interest areas, including gaming, Internet of Things (IoT), and Alexa. Each specialized badge features bite-size learning opportunities to expand your cloud skillset in 10+ hours.
Further, the AWS Educate Job Board allows students to search for and apply to thousands of cloud jobs and internship opportunities from Amazon and other companies around the world. It gives students the opportunity to take the skills they’ve learned in AWS Educate’s Cloud Career Pathways directly into the workforce.
The AWS Educate Student Ambassador Program gives AWS Educate student members recognition, access to career development opportunities, and other benefits for helping their peers learn about AWS Educate. The program is available to AWS Educate student members globally ages 18+ who are enrolled at a public or private school, college, or university. Applications for the 2020 cohort of Student Ambassadors are open from February 20, 2020 – April 16, 2020.
Why do you need to be part of AWS Educate to learn about AWS?
Honestly, you don’t have to be part of this program to learn about AWS. You can create your own AWS account, link it with your Credit/Debit card and learn with complete functionalities by following through some tutorial videos on Youtube. However, this will incur you some charges for hosting various services, won’t be part of a learning community, can’t follow through the course material designed by AWS themselves, can’t earn student badges.
Whereas if you are part of AWS Educate, you have access to:
- AWS Credits worth $200 to learn, explore and host 100+ AWS offerings
- Be part of Atria’s AWS Educate student community
- Learn from content design by AWS team for students
- Earn Student badges
- Have a chance to apply for AWS Educate Cloud Ambassador program
- Access to Job portal where many good companies look for students with AWS skills
- And much more
